True of False: Fish can produce their own antifreeze.

Notothens or Cod Ice fish, live in sub-zero waters of the Arctic and Antarctic and produce a simple protein made of 1 threonine and 2 alanines that continually repeat.

These protein units stick to ice crystals preventing them from growing and voila! you have fish that can produce antifreeze.

Researchers Chi-Hing and Christina Cheng had been studying the Antarctic Ice cod for years when they discovered that another population of Cod in the Arctic had seperately developed the same ability.
